SALT LAKE 2002 WINTER OLYMPICS
My Olympic Experience
By Tim Boschert

Visitors form all over the world ran through the streets of Salt Lake City and Park City, UT. We would never have known how many people actually came to witness the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Games, if we had not ventured out to see for ourselves.

Tourists on Main Street Park City, UT.

Lori and I went and played tourist for an evening as we journeyed to Park City Main Street. Utilizing my knowledge of the area traffic and the transportation planner that I am we headed for the Silver summit park and ride lot. The lot is capable of holding over 8,500 vehicles. Buses wait to transfer you on a ten minute ride to main street. The lot was also set up to serve venue traffic bound for Park City Resort, Deer Valley and the Soldier Hollow complex.

Park City Main Street was alive with people milling about the restaurants, bars and stores. The line for the Roots clothing store and the Jamaican Team Store were way too long. We beat it off Main to go to dinner.

Another night found us Downtown Salt Lake City at the medals plaza area.  Again doing the tourist style pictures at the Hallmark photo booth and in the street.
